Grounded Theory Approach on the Women¡¯s Adaptation Experience with Their Retired Husbands

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to describe how women with their retired husbands interact with the changes accompanied by their retirement of husbands
Methods: The subjects ware 6 housewives with their husbands retired from their employment at least three years ago. The data analysis utilized a method of constant comparative method while analyzing with the data collection according to the procedure of the grounded theory proposed by Strauss & Corbin(1998).
Results: The findings of this study, a core category identified with ¡®life with retired spouses", the participants had a property of conquest and stagnation in the life with their retired husbands and a type of life as a partner with wet fallen leaves have two types: a life advancing together and a life staying together.
Conclusion: By understanding women¡¯s experience with their retired husbands, we will be able to propose the grounded data for the preparation of a measure strategy which can make an affirmative conquest for the difficulties after their retirement in ¡®Retired Husband Syndrome¡¯.
